CallReply

Reply

A message that sounds like you, personalised with each caller's first name

You write the text sent after a missed call once, in French and in English. CallReply adds the contact's first or full name when it knows it, and still reads well when it does not.

English template 1 segment · 118 characters

What templates give you

Template preview. You see the final message and its length before it goes out.

Two languages, two messages

One French template and one English template, each written your way. Your tone stays consistent with your customers, whatever language they speak.

Français · English

The caller's first name

The {first_name} and {name} variables pull the first name or full name saved in your address book. A regular customer gets a message that speaks to them.

{first_name} → Mark

Always a clean sentence

If the caller is not in your contacts, the variable is removed without leaving a gap or a stray brace. The text stays readable, with no awkward wording.

Unknown caller · No-name wording

Length under control

The preview shows the final text and how many SMS segments it takes. You see right away when one sentence too many splits the message in two.

Write a template in four steps

  1. 01 Open Templates and settings The section is the same in the app and in the web client space.
  2. 02 Write the French message Introduce yourself, say you saw the call and when you will call back. Insert {first_name} where a name makes sense.
  3. 03 Adapt the English version Rephrase rather than translate word for word, so the message sounds natural.
  4. 04 Check the preview Look at the result with and without a known contact, check the segment count, then save.

How do {first_name} and {name} work?

When sending, CallReply looks up the caller's number in the phone's address book. If it finds it, {first_name} becomes the first name and {name} the full name as you saved it. If not, the variable disappears cleanly: Hello {first_name}, simply becomes Hello,. So write sentences that sound natural either way, and keep the spelling right on the contact cards you use most.

Why watch the segment count?

A standard SMS is limited in characters. Beyond that, the message is split into several segments, joined back together on the recipient's phone but counted separately by your carrier depending on your plan. Accents and some special characters also reduce the space available. The CallReply preview shows the count live: a short, clear, signed message usually fits in one segment and is read at a glance.

Who is it for?

For businesses whose customers are partly English-speaking or from abroad: holiday rentals, hospitality, relocation services, firms working with international clients. One tool covers both languages, with no juggling between apps and no rewriting the message by hand each time a foreign customer calls.

For people who keep their regular customers in their phone: hairdressers, coaches, repairers, sales agents. A first name in the text changes how it is received, making it feel less like a generic reply. For new callers, the version without a name still looks entirely professional, without you having to plan a second text.

Good to know

Keep it informational

The template answers someone who just called you, so it is not prospecting. Keep it factual, with your name, your business name and when you will call back. Slipping a promotion into the text would bring it under marketing rules (consent, opt-out) as described by the CNIL.

Numbers on the STOP list

Even the best template never goes to a number on the STOP list. Check the list if a contact says they received nothing: the history gives the reason why no text was sent.

Your data

Your templates and history are hosted in France, with retention periods defined in the privacy policy. Names only reach the web space if you turn on contact sync. Export and erasure are available from My data.

Hidden numbers

No template can be sent to a caller with a withheld number, since there is no number to reply to. The call appears in the history with no text attached.

Frequently asked questions

Can I create several templates for different callers?

No. CallReply offers one French template and one English template. Personalisation comes from the {first_name} and {name} variables, which adapt the message to every known contact in your address book.

How does CallReply pick the language?

You choose in the settings which template is used for sending. Write both versions so you can switch quickly depending on your current customers, for example during the tourist season.

What happens to {first_name} for an unknown number?

The variable is removed cleanly, with no braces and no extra space. Hello {first_name}, becomes Hello,. Check in the preview that your sentence still reads naturally that way.

Can I edit the template from a computer?

Yes. The Templates and settings section of the web client space lets you edit your texts. Changes apply to the phone's next sends.
